Elevate Life Church continues to be one of the fastest growing churches in the Jacksonville area. In order to help accommodate this growth, the leadership began pursuing permanent expansion options for their multi-site model. The Fleming Island Campus explored multiple options for a home, looking at both existing buildings and land to build. In 2020, they ultimately landed within an industrial office complex, purchasing one of the empty 17,000 sf. shell buildings in the development. This exciting purchase gave them the opportunity to retrofit for new worship, lobby/fellowship space, and children’s environments. Due to an existing relationship with Equip Studio, the design process was expedited, allowing them to begin construction very quickly. After a few short months of construction (and with the help of Bent Construction), the church was able to hold services in their new 475-seat worship center.
The lobby is open and airy; it reflects the church’s brand, culture, and values throughout the space with bold, intentional signage. The interior color palette of whites and neutral tones allows the church’s people and ministry to become the main focus in the “front seat.” The children’s area is designed with the same idea—an efficient space with a muted palette. This allows the classrooms to be multi-functional throughout the week. The use of an existing building can be challenging, but the application of warm, wood-toned materials both inside and out helped the building fit into the context, and (more importantly) reflect the unique feel and DNA of the church.
